Beyond Candy Corn: The Nostalgic Halloween Treats You Forgot Existed!
Rediscover Halloween's Long-Lost Goodies...
Greetings, nostalgia fans! Halloween is fast approaching and one thing you expect to see this time of year are sequels to your favorite horror movies. So in the “spirit” of All Hallows’ Eve, I have a sequel of my own: Slaughter Pops 2: The Fuitening. That’s right 6 new Otter Pop redesigns based on popular slasher movie villains! It all comes alive in my latest video. You can download this free template here if you want to design your own Slaughter Pops.
When it comes to Halloween, certain treats have become timeless staples—candy corn, pumpkin-shaped peanut butter cups, and fun-size chocolate bars fill our bags year after year. But what about the long-lost treasures from our childhood Halloweens? Beyond the well-known goodies, there were once frozen treats and quirky candies that haunted store shelves, only to disappear into the fog of memory. From spooky ice pops shaped like monsters to candy that came in coffins, these forgotten delights were every bit as magical as the classics we still savor today. Let’s take a nostalgic trip down memory lane and rediscover some of the lost Halloween treats of our youth!
Mr. Bones (Fleer)
A Halloween favorite, Mr. Bones came in a creepy little coffin filled with candy bones. Kids had the eerie pleasure of assembling a full skeleton before devouring the sugary parts one by one!
Dracula Ice Pop (Good Humor)
The Dracula Ice Pop was a fang-tastic treat! This chilling black ice pop hid a blood-red cherry center that oozed with every bite, making it a cool, creepy refreshment for vampire lovers everywhere.
Monster Dispensers (PEZ)
These classic PEZ dispensers featured famous monsters like Frankenstein, the Wolfman, and the Creature from the Black Lagoon. With each monstrous head delivering a sweet candy, they were a perfect collectible for Halloween fans who loved their ghouls with a side of sugar.
Ghoul-Aid (Kool-Aid)
Ghoul-Aid was the drink of choice for little monsters everywhere. The “Scary Blackberry” flavor brewed up a deep, dark potion that was both eerie and delicious—ideal for quenching your thirst after a night of trick-or-treating!
Creepy Crawlers Fruit Snacks (Farley’s)
These gummy treats were shaped like bugs, spiders, and other creepy critters, making them a gross and giggly snack for Halloween. Packed with fruity flavors, each bite delivered a squishy, spooky surprise!
Munchy Mummies (Topps)
Munchy Mummies were a delightfully spooky snack, perfect for mummy enthusiasts. Crunchy and flavorful, these bite-sized goodies brought an extra layer of fun to Halloween snacking with their eerie, monster theme.
3-D Monster Pops (DCA Foods)
These chillingly delicious ice pops were a frightful feast for the senses! Each pop came in the fun, monstrous shapes of three classic creatures: a fang-tastic grape-flavored Vampire, a shockingly sweet cherry Frankenstein, and a devilishly tangy orange Devil. These frozen fiends were both fun and frightful!
Drac Snax (Topps)
Drac Snax were bite-sized, fruit-flavored candy that packed a devilishly delicious punch in four ghoulish flavors: lemon, orange, cherry, and tutti-frutti. These colorful little treats were perfect for satisfying monstrous cravings on a spooky night!
And there you have it, a trick-or-treat time capsule of Halloween's long-lost goodies. Are there any terrifying treats you wish made the list? Let me know by leaving a comment.
