Greetings Mad Makers! In my Latest Video, I create trading cards from some of the worst movies ever made, Troll 2, Mac and Me, and “Manos” The Hands of Fate. There were so many other stinkers to choose from and I would love to do more! What are some of your favorite “so bad, their good” movies? Let me know and maybe I’ll get to them in a future video. Or maybe you want to make your own bad movie cards using the FREE trading card template I created available Here! There are plenty more templates, art, and exclusives on my Pateon. Join in on the fun!
These movies are so bad that they have to be shared with others, and what better way to experience them than with a bad movie-themed watch party? So here are a few tips on how to throw a movie night featuring each of the three movies I covered in my video.
Troll 2
Troll 2 Transformation
Transform your party space into "Nilbog" by incorporating greenery, fake trees, and goblin-themed decorations. Create signs that say "Welcome to Nilbog" and "You can't piss on hospitality!"
Nilbog Noshes
Serve snacks with fun, goblin-themed names, like "Goblin Gummies," "Nilbog Nachos," or "Troll 2 Tater Tots." a little green food coloring goes a long way in transforming your dishes into gruesome green goblin fair. Lindsey Caplice has an excellent Pinterest board with links to recipes that will make your Troll 2 party a smash.
Double, Double, Toil and Trouble
Create a signature drink for the party, such as a bright green cocktail or mocktail, and give it a whimsical name like "Goblin Goo" or "Witch's Brew." There are several green liquors from Midori, absinthe, Chartreuse, or creme de menthe that you can add to the mix and bad movies seem to get better after a few cocktails.
Remember to embrace the cheesy and absurd nature of Troll 2 throughout the party. Consider a goblin costume contest, a Nilbog photo booth, or goblin karaoke, and don't forget the popcorn. You can’t have a movie without popcorn!
Mac and Me
"Mac and Cheese" Bar
Serve a "Mac and Cheese" bar with various toppings and flavors for guests to customize their macaroni and cheese. Embrace the pun and tie it into the movie's title for a fun food experience.
Mickey D’s To the Rescue
If you don’t want to go to the trouble of cooking why not embrace the blatant product placement and order burgers and fries from McDonalds, don’t forget to accompany them with Coka Cola products and a bowl of Skittles to snack on.
Mac and Me Movie Bingo
Create bingo cards based on scenes, characters, and quotes from Mac and Me. You could create several spaces for each time Coca-Cola or McDonald's is mentioned or appears in a scene. Award small prizes to the winners.
Dance Party
Curate a playlist featuring music from the '80s and songs that capture the spirit of Mac and Me Have a dance-off to see who can best recreate the iconic dance moves from the McDonalds dance party scene.
Remember to liven things up with the retro charm of Mac and Me and have a blast with the party activities.
“Manos” The Hands of Fate
The Master's Buffet
Set up a buffet with quirky, finger-food options. Label the food with humorous names related to the movie, such as "The Master's Meatballs", “Manos” The Hand of Meatloaf, or "Torgo's Tacos." Create desserts shaped like the iconic hands from the movie. This could include cookies, cakes, or even hand-shaped candies. Bonus points if they are as awkwardly shaped as the hands in the film.
Manos Mystery Box
Set up a mysterious box filled with odd and quirky items related to the movie. Guests can blindly reach inside to feel the "Hands of Fate" and guess what each item represents.
The Master's Trivia Challenge
Prepare a trivia game focused on obscure facts about Manos. Test your guests' knowledge of this cult classic and reward those who know their Manos lore.
Torgo's Tour: Outdoor Activities
If space permits, consider organizing a "Torgo's Tour" outdoor activity. This could include a scavenger hunt or a quirky obstacle course in which contestants compete while imitating Torgo's odd movements and walking patterns.
There are so many ways to experience cult classics. Consider including other famously bad movies in a marathon. Create a lineup of terrible films and enjoy the absurdity together.
How many of these movies have you seen? What’s your favorite bad movie? Let us know by leaving a comment, I’d love to hear from you!
That’s it for this week. Until next time. Keep making awesome stuff even if it’s inspired by something truly awful!
Speaking of awesome stuff, there’s plenty more of that in my online store on my website.
I haven't seen Mac and Me, and I was unaware of it... I don't know if I will. I have seen Troll 2 once and shan't again. Manos I've seen several times and it's a trial! My favorite bad movie is probably Robot Monster. It would be great for trading cards- another would of course be the standard, Plan 9 from Outer Space....
I don't want to give it away but I will say the 5th movie is Marshall Arts movie set in Miami. I've heard that theory about Torgo being a satyr that makes sense (or at least as much sense as anything else in the movie) I've never seen Robot Monster but I'm very familiar with the creature with its deep sea diver helmet and gorilla body. I've even drawn him a few times when doing a classic monster series. There are a lot of things that inspired Lucus from Kurosawa to Flash Gordon I'm not surprised he was inspired by Robot Monster.
